After lose in Rio by 3-1, Palmeiras knocked out Vasco by 3-0. Thiago Cunha was the man of the match scoring twice.
Palmeiras had played without Diego Souza and Sandro Silva who are in regular starting eleven but for this game Luxemburgo preferred not use them but in compensation Alex Mineiro returned.
Palmeiras and Vasco started in a cold rhythm like the São Paulo’s weather without motivate the few supporters. The clash had disappointed in a technique way, both sides were inattentive and missing a lot of chances to score. The 1st goal attempt of the game was when Madson entered in penalty area and just stopped in audacious Marcos’ way out.
The marasmus had stopped at 33′ when Maicossuel crossed into penalty area and Thiago Cunha scored in a beautiful volley that reached the left angle.
10 minutes after Mateus had free-kicked Marcos had to
At 51′ Madson crossed to Leandro Amaral headed and Marcos again saved us.
Palmeiras follow up more efficient and scored the 2nd. Maicossuel had passed to Kléber who disputed shoulder to shoulder with Mateus then crossed it Roberto made a howler and Denílson just pushed it.
With that result Vasco was leaving Sudamericana Cup so Tita put Edmundo and Rodrigo Antônio on the field but the new offensive power didn’t work well.
At 84′ Thiago Cunha had intercepted a Evandro’s shot and put it in the back of the net.
Sunday Palmeiras and Vasco are gonna play by Brasileirão. As long as Palmeiras is the 2nd, Vasco is the 17th and is in relegate zone.
Next Wednesday in Lima Palmeiras is gonna face Sport Áncash that beat Chile’s Ñublense (agg 4-1).

I think the next match up for Palmeiras depends strongly on what happens to El Verdão in the next few rounds of the Brasileirao. I have doubts that Luxemburgo will be fielding a full side twice a week if it means compromising the Brasileirao.
Sport Ancash are a decent side at home, not so good away from home though. Check out my match updates about their performances in their First Round match up against Chilean side Ñublense in the Sudamericana.
